The association was created in April 1970, to respond to the needs of companies, who had not found the competencies, in the domain of credit collection, of the prevention of risk and credit management in the employment market. It is an association without profit (law 1901) with around 1000 members.

The Association of Swedish Debt Collectors was founded in 1978. The association is the branch organisation for companies that conduct debt collection.
